The BOO: Political Posters Open Call Exhibition

Aesthetics, Politics and Histories: The Social Context of Art, AAANZ Conference,
Creative Space, RMIT University, Melbourne

5 — 7 December 2018

During the AAANZ conference, Aesthetics, Politics and Histories: The Social Context of Art, The BOO set up operations in RMIT’s Creative Space in Melbourne’s CBD. In response to an open call, over 70 political posters from 45 contributors were displayed. Two BOOreaucrats inhabited the space, facilitated conversations generated by the posters and conducted surveys. The chief survey question, ‘Where are you from?’ prompted agonistic dialogue, while other (less efficient) bureaucratic functions were performed. The exhibition formed part of The' BOO’s ongoing administration of critical artistic gestures relating to the difficult proposition of being ‘from Australia’.
